A hammock is a lightweight and easy-to-carry bedding for field activities, usually tethered to a tree with the material from which the hammock is made. According to the material of manufacture, it is divided into cloth hammocks and rope net hammocks. Cloth hammocks are usually sewn from thin canvas or nylon, and rope net hammocks are usually woven from cotton or nylon rope. Rope net hammocks are especially suitable in tropical jungles and hot summers, while cloth hammocks are more widely used and can be used in other seasons except in severe cold areas and winter.
If you use a hammock for temporary rest in the wild, you don’t need to tie the hammock tightly. If you use a hammock for camping in the wild, you should straighten and fasten the hammock as much as possible. Due to the weight of the person sleeping on the hammock, the hammock will sag and bend greatly, and the body of the person sleeping in the hammock will also follow. Bending, it is very uncomfortable for a long time. Pulling the hammock as straight as possible can reduce the bending degree of the hammock and make sleep more comfortable. In addition, do not tie the hammock too high, a height of one meter above the ground is more suitable, so that it is convenient to get on and off the hammock.
Since a hammock is not an independent closed system like a tent, using a hammock to sleep in the wild will have problems with mosquito bites and rain. In fact, with a little brainstorming, these two problems can be solved very well.
Matters needing attention before using the hammock:
1. Check the hammock connection for signs of breakage before use;
2. Before sitting on the hammock, you must check whether the rope is firmly knotted;
3. When sitting on the hammock, hold the hammock on both sides with both hands and then sit in, not sitting on one side;
4. Don’t jump up and down on the hammock or move too far.
5. The fixing methods when tying the hammock are: after winding the rope on the post, wrap the rope head around the rope; twist the rope loop to make a small rope loop; pass the rope head through the rope loop and tighten the knot.
